I have another update on the dining room! It was a long time ago that I mentioned on here that I wanted to do something with the dining room. Then, not too long ago, I mentioned that we made a little progress. Well, there has been even more progress so, I wanted to share! (If you want to read the first two posts you can find them, here and here )
In my first post about redoing the dining room, I mentioned that I wanted to create some sort of feature wall with the back wall, by using either a different paint color or wallpaper. In February I found the perfect wallpaper. It was a little expensive, so I wanted to wait for it to go on sale before I purchased it. It finally went on sale at the beginning of this month! The pattern is pretty bold, and I am hoping it isn't too busy when it is up on the wall but, I really love it.
Once I received the wallpaper in the mail I realized I would have to repaint the room. The wallpaper has a gray background and the two side walls in the room were painted a dingy beige/white which looked awful next to the pretty gray of the wallpaper. So yesterday, Anna and I painted the room. We painted it the same gray that is in the living room since I knew I already like that color. It went really fast since the room is so small.
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to wallpaper, so I am waiting for my mom to have time to come over and help. The room will have to sit unfinished for a little while. I guess that is just motivation to make sure we finish quick, since it looks pretty crazy with the mismatched colors and paint outline.
Also, I found some new dining room chairs! We found our current chairs at an estate sale for 50 cents each, so it isn't too sad to see them go. I found the new chairs at a thrift store for only $15 each, which I though was a great price too. I had been casually looking for new dining room chairs for a little while. I knew I wanted them to be mid-century in style, so when I saw these, I knew they were perfect. Obviously, we will have to recover them, but I am waiting to buy fabric until after the wallpaper is installed. I'm thinking we will have to stick with a solid fabric, because of how busy the wall paper is.
So that is the progress so far! I'll be sure to share photos after we finish the room completely, which will hopefully be very soon!
