Fall and I, we have a love-hate relationship. Love, because of all the wonderful things that come with fall, like apple picking, leaves changing, boots, and wearing layers and scarves. Hate, because of the one terrible thing that come after fall, winter. Boo. We have already had some seriously chilly weather. Let's just say, the cat and I have already had some serious snuggle time trying to stay warm. Anytime I sit on the couch with a blanket, she instantly crawls under it to sleeps on my lap. It's great, it like my own personal heater, but I am starting to get nervous thinking about how much it is going to cost to heat our house in the winter!
I was sitting on the couch this last week, with the cat on my lap, watching Netflix and wishing that I had another house project to work on. I had for awhile been content to do nothing house related after our big push to get most of the big projects done before our open house, but I was suddenly ready to start anew! I was itching to decorate a little for fall and welcome in the season. I thought it would be fun to decorate the table we have by our front door, since it still really wasn't decorated with anything yet. Plus, I figured this was perfect project because it's really an on going project that I could work on throughout the year, changing the decoration per the seasons.
Thursday night I went to JoAnns to get supplies. They already had all of their fall decoration on clearance, which totally baffled me since really fall only start like two weeks ago. Buy hey, I wasn't going to complain since it meant cheaper shopping for me! I decided to give myself a budget of $20, which I was able to keep within. Here is what I ended up with!
I didn't want the decorations to be disconnected from the rest of the room, so I kept the palette pretty neutral, but with a pop of red to brighten it up.
I cut out triangles from burlap to make a bunting and made little tassels out of embroidery thread. I was originally going to hot glue the bunting together, but I thought it would be a nice touch to sew it together with a bit of bakers twine.
Here is a break down of the cost:
Pumpkin: $10
Grapevine ball: $1.50
Reeds: $6
The vase and fabric I had at home already, and I just picked up a couple sticks from out backyard to hold up the bunting.
I love it, and I am already excited to decorate the table again for Christmas!
Very Nice!! Love It! P.S. Don't rush the Christmas thing!
