Inspiration for the new house

In the last post I showed you what our apartment looks like now.  In this post, I'll share with you some photos I am using for inspiration for decorating some of the rooms in the new house.  The new house has three bedrooms.  One, we will be using for a guest room and the second one I get to use as my sewing room for now.

Let's start with the sewing room since that is the room I am most excited about.

 The Sewing Room

Like I said, I am pretty excited to have a whole room just for sewing!  Right now, I sew in our dining room along side our kitchen table.  It works fine for now but, my sewing things have a tendency to take over when I am working on a project.  It will be nice to have a room where I can keep things out for whole the duration of project and not have to put everything away because we need to eat dinner.

This is a slightly embarrassing picture because the area is so messy but, here is my sewing area now...

Messy, I know.  I probably just have too much stuff.  If you're wondering, the fabric cover thing on the far left is my dress form, I keep her covered so she doesn't get dusty.

Here are some of the inspiration pictures for how I am thinking of decorating my new sewing room.

So pretty!  Obviously, none of these are actually sewing rooms but I love the colors and patterns.  They are bright and girly which is exactly what I want my sewing room to be.

The Guest Bedroom

For the guest bedroom I want something a little more gender neutral.  Thankfully we already have a bed for this room.  It is a beautiful antique bed my parent bought for as a gift in high school.  It is a three quarter size bed, meaning that it is smaller than a full size bed but bigger than a twin bed.  It is similar in style to the one in the picture on the left.

I wanted the room to be warm and inviting with a slight industrial edge.  I really like the idea of adding shelving to the walls like in the first photo but, we will see if that ever happens.

So that is my inspiration so far.  For the living room and master bedroom, I am hoping that most if not all of the furniture we have in those rooms now will fit perfectly into those rooms in the new house.  So, there really isn't too much going to be different in those rooms.

Do you think having rooms decorated so differently will be strange?  Should you keep a consistent decorating theme throughout your entire house?  Or is it okay to mix it up in each room?
