Yay for Spring and warmer weather! It is so wonderful to wake up with the sun shining into the bedroom and, to be able to come home from work and still have several hours of sunshine left in the day. In fact, it has been so nice out that Ryan and I decided to plant our garden this last weekend.
Ryan made a raised bed garden for us in the backyard. He did a great job, and I think it is the perfect size for us. We decided to plant purple bell peppers, orange bell peppers, jalapenos, banana peppers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and a few herbs. Neither of us have any real know how or skills when it comes to gardening so, we will see what happens. Fingers crossed that we get at least one fully grown vegetable by the end of the summer!
To keep things organized and, to remember what we planted where, I made a little map of the garden.
Then I wrote down the name of each plant and the information from each of the plant tags.
We've been covering up the garden at night to protect the tomatoes from frost as it is still getting a little chilly at night. Ryan has been doing a great job of watering every morning and tending as needed.
The rest of the yard is popping up with all sorts of surprises this Spring. Since we bought the house in June last year, and the entire lawn was a mess, we really didn't get to see everything that was growing in the yard. Let's just say we still have a little ways to go in cleaning up all the stray weeds and overgrowth. But, to my surprise, we have a nice patch of tulips growing! And another peoni plant we didn't know about, so that is exciting!
Also, I am proud to report that almost every single plant we planted last year has begun to grow again! We are still waiting to see if the fern and one hosta will grow back. It is so exciting to see the little buds poking up from the ground! I'm so happy Spring is here!
