Triangle Quilt

Last year, I started to become more and more interested in quilting.  Mostly I think I was won over by all the beautiful patterns and colors of quilting fabrics.  I finished three and a half (more on the half quilt in a bit) quilt tops last year.  I like all of them, but I did learn that I like quick easy piecing way more than I like putzy intricate piecing.  Case in point, that half of a quilt top that is still waiting to be finished because it it was taking for-ev-vvvvverrr (you know, like how they say it in The Sandlot).

I had pinned several really beautiful triangle quilts on Pinterest and really wanted to try to make one, since they seemed to have minimal piecing and cutting, which is right up my alley.  I was a little intimidated by sewing all the seams on the bias and matching the points, but I decided to give it a try.

Ryan always tells whenever I start a project that I need to have the proper and correct tools.  I am more of a make-do-with-what-you have kinda girl, mostly because I am cheap and don't want to pay for the correct tool.  This time however, I decided to take Ryan's advice, and get the proper tool I needed to make this quilt; a triangle ruler.  I am so glad I did, it made cutting out this quit a breeze!

I bought most of the fabric from Mill House Quilts when we were home visiting my parents for Christmas, since my mom had given me a gift certificate to the shop as a Christmas present.  I was so excited about the fabric I purchased that I started on the quilt as soon as we got home!

The cutting and piecing went really quickly, and were both enjoyable.  However, I did just okay at matching up the points of each triangle.  The fabrics are so busy, that no one will be able to see the points that are off unless they are looking for it.

Overall I really liked how it turned out!  I thought maybe it would be too crazy with all of the prints, but in the end I think it ended up really fun.  I have yet to sandwich and quilt it, that will be a battle for another day.
