We wanted something simple, functional, and that was attached to the wall. So couple months ago, when Ryan and I went to IKEA and found these really simple white knobs, we knew they would be perfect for the coat rack. After throwing around a few ideas about what to mount the knobs onto, we decided to just simply mount them on a 1x4 piece of wood.
I painted the wood white, to match the trim, and our DIY hexagon shelves (as you can tell by the paint marks on the drop cloth).
We found two studs in the wall and mounted the coat hanger with four screws. And here it is in action!
I bought the joy sign was a Christmas decoration, but I actually really like how it looks over the coat hanger, and I might just keep it up all year. I mean, you can always be reminded to have more joy, right? Sadly, the cord is just slightly (like less than two feet) too short to be plugged in. We will have to see if we can find a very short extension cord, so we can plug it in.
I'm really pleased how it turned out. It very functional and blends well with the rest of the room, while still adding a little pizzazz with the joy sign.
