Finally hanging some pictures

We finally started hanging pictures in our house!  I am so happy, having pictures on the walls really makes a house feel like a home.  I want to have an open house party with friends and family in August, so my goal is to have everything unpacked and all the rooms ready and decorated by then.  I am hoping that having an actual date when people will be over to see the house will be motivation enough to get everything done!

We hung pictures up in the bedroom and the living room.  We decided to hang up our wedding pictures in the bedroom.  We never found a place to hang them up in the apartment, so I am really happy we now have a place for them.

In the living room I really wanted to have a gallery wall.  I scrounged around the house finding pictures and other things to create a collection of things to hang up.  I laid out all the pieces on the floor in multiple arrangements until I decided one that I liked.

Once I landed on an arrangement, I cut out a piece of tissue paper about the size of each piece.  I taped the tissue paper to the wall first to make sure the arrangement still looked good on the wall, and to make sure I had enough room for everything.  It's a lot easier to move tissue paper than nails.  Ryan then helped me pound the nails in for each piece.

We left the tissue paper in while we pounded in the nails just to make sure each picture was hanging in just the right spot.  It worked out great!  At the beginning, I wasn't sure if I was going to like all the pieces together or not, but I think the end result really worked out well.

I love the results and I think there is even room to add more pieces as we find them.  Now I just have to style the credenza.  I am planning on leaving the lamp, fan and clock where they are, and add some plants or something to the other side to balance it out.  August is coming quick, so I better hurry up!
